About me, chef Lisa Clarke
My culinary journey started in the London events world, regularly cooking in The House of Lords, Royal Palaces, The Royal Courts of Justice, London art galleries, stately homes, luxury Thames barges, private mansions, to marquees in the middle of fields in pop up kitchens! In 1996 I started my own London event and party catering company, Hedgehog Pie. During my Hedgehog Pie days, I was honoured to cook for HM Queen, more than once, various members of the royal family, many celebrities, the senior judiciary and the government.
I am an award-winning chef and chocolatier with 5 Gold Taste of The West Awards. Attention to detail, flavour, and food presented beautifully on the plate are something that I am passionate about. In 2006 I started my popular chocolate school, The Chocolate Tart in Congresbury.
After a move to Clevedon in 2021, I now teach cooking and chocolate workshops at home and various venues close to the seafront in Clevedon.
About hubby, Ed Clarke
Edward fell in love with wine (and me) whilst taking a break from real life doing a ski season in the Alps in 1990. Realising that being a ski bum was not a serious career, he joined Bibendum Wine, Primrose Hill, London, where he worked for 23 years. Having left a city career which he hated, Ed started on the shop floor and worked his way to become National Sales Director, responsible for some of the largest ‘on trade’ accounts and venues in the UK.
Being born and bred just over the Bristol Suspension Bridge in Leigh Woods, Ed was always keen to live and work full-time in Bristol. So on leaving Bibendum he set up a wine consultancy business, mainly working with Bristol Fine Wine. In 2022 Ed joined Aiden Bell and Richard Davis as a partner at DBM Wines, Clifton Village to start a new division of the company looking after restaurants and eateries in the south west. If you fall in love with a new wine at our tasting events Ed will bring any orders home with him to Clevedon for you to collect!
It took thirty years of marriage for Lisa to finally persuade Ed that they are a match made in heaven when it comes to throwing open their home for these unique and intimate foodie events!!!
Sara Appleyard
“We booked a group plates and wine session for my husband’s birthday and the food and wine pairings were sensational. The succulent prawns paired with rose wine were an unexpected delight - I am definitely going to recommend this to our friends.”
